Airport Shirt Exchange FAQ
-
A group-trip tradition where each person secretly buys a ridiculous shirt for one other person. The shirts are revealed at the airport, and everyone wears the one they were given for an agreed part of the trip: until boarding, the whole flight, or the first day.
-
No. Most groups reveal after check-in because it gives you a bathroom to change in and a terminal to walk through, but some do it at home or at the hotel. The airport is just where the shirts become part of the trip.
-
Only if your group agreed to. Decide the wearing window before anyone shops. Common choices are until boarding, the whole flight, until hotel check-in, or the full first day.
-
Yes. Airline contracts of carriage let crew refuse passengers whose clothing is lewd, offensive or obscene. Every Gate Swap design is built to pass: no profanity, no security or weapon references, nothing a child cannot read.
-
Groups typically set a cap of $20 to $30. The cap matters more than the number; matched budgets keep every shirt equally ridiculous.
-
Collect sizes before the draw, then order one size up. A shirt that is slightly big is funnier than one that does not go over someone's shoulders. Our shirts are unisex and true to size; the size chart is on every product page.
-
Draw names so the pairs stay secret from everyone, including the organizer. Our free name-draw tool sends each person a private link with the one name they are buying for.
-
Shirts are printed to order and ship in 2 to 5 business days, plus transit. We ship to the US and Canada. Order at least 10 days before departure for US addresses and 3 weeks for Canada. Order-by dates for major travel holidays are posted on the homepage.
-
Yes. Group Packs of 4, 6 or 8 shirts let you enter every size and a vibe, and we pick a different design for each person. The pack ships in one box so everyone opens at the same time.
-
Yes. The Family-Safe category is readable by a seven-year-old and funny to a seventy-year-old, with youth sizes on marked designs. Family exchanges work best when the kids pick for the adults.
-
Shirts are printed to order, so we cannot accept returns or size exchanges for a change of mind, but we replace any shirt that arrives damaged, misprinted or different from what you ordered. Email a photo and your order number within 30 days of delivery and we reprint it free. Nothing to mail back.
-
Almost. Roulette is fully random: everyone brings a wrapped shirt and draws blind. In an airport shirt exchange each person buys for a specific person, which makes the reveal more personal. Both work with the same shopping list.
